Home / Solutions / YouTube chapters for livestreams, without writing them by hand
Chapters split a video into labelled sections on the progress bar. For a three-hour stream they are the difference between a viewer finding the part they came for and closing the tab.
Free up to 10 hours. No card. Nothing to upload.
Chapters come from timestamps in the description. The first must be 0:00, there must be at least three, and each must be at least ten seconds long. YouTube can also generate automatic chapters, but it does not do so for every video.
Writing chapters means rewatching the stream and noting where each topic starts. For a creator who streams several times a week, that is hours of work nobody has, so most VODs ship with none.
Name each chapter for what a viewer would search for, not for an inside joke. Keep the list short enough to scan. Mark the moments people actually come back for, such as a big announcement, a tutorial section or a guest segment.
On Pro and above, ReRun.fun writes paste-ready chapters and a timestamp index for each VOD from the indexed transcript. Copy them into the description and the chapters appear on the progress bar.

Chapters give YouTube and Google labelled sections they can show as key moments in results. That can help, but no one can promise a ranking change.
Yes. They are plain text you paste into your description, so edit anything you like.
