Home › Guides › Streaming to nobody: what actually moves the first hundred viewers
Recommendation systems mostly amplify existing attention, so the first viewers nearly always arrive from somewhere else.
In a saturated category a new channel sits thousands of rows down a list nobody scrolls. A smaller category with genuine interest puts you on screen, which is the entire game early on.
Short video is where discovery actually happens for most new channels. The clip has to stand alone for someone who has never heard of you, which is a different edit from the one your regulars enjoy.
A stream titled by its content gets found for months afterwards. A stream titled with a date, an emoji, and the word LIVE is invisible the moment it ends.
Silence reads as an empty room to anyone who arrives. Narrating what you are doing gives a first-time viewer something to join, and it is the habit that makes a busy chat manageable later.
