Hate raids: what to set up before one happens

During an attack you will not be calmly reading settings menus, so the work has to be done while nothing is wrong.

Know your panic settings

Follower-only mode with a time requirement, emote-only mode, and clearing chat are the controls that end a flood. Practise finding them before you need them at speed.

Have a mod who is not you

Someone else holding the controls means you can stop reading. During an attack, being the person who reads every message is the most damaging job available.

Preserve evidence, then stop looking

Recordings and logs matter for reports. Scrolling through the abuse afterwards serves nothing and is the part people underestimate.

Decide in advance whether to end the stream

Ending it is not a loss. Agreeing beforehand on what would make you stop removes the decision from the worst possible moment.
